A budget hotel opened on the A38 in Barton under Needlewood in 1985, it was the first of it’s kind.  It has now become one of the biggest hotel chains/brands in the UK, undergoing massive transformations, and able to boast a capacity of over 37,000 rooms in over 500 hotels, it has moved from being a roadside hotel to the UK’s largest and fastest growing hotel brands.

Travelodge have over 6,000 employees located in the UK, Ireland and Spain. With youth as well as long term unemployment as high as they are in these times, Travelodge lead the way in helping to combat youth unemployment, and taking on entry level staff through Job Centre Plus. All entry level jobs are given to the long term jobless due to that unique partnership. 80% of the new staff at Travelodge have been recruited this way since the launch of the partnership.

At the beginning of the year 2013, Travelodge announced an investment of £223 million to further develop it’s brand.
